A Quote to Remember

I think I’m going to pin this one up on my wall:

I say a lot of things — millions of words a day — so if I misspoke, that was just a misstatement.

That’s Hillary’s response to being caught in a lie. She claimed that her trip to Bosnia as First Lady started off with a dash from the plane to waiting cars under sniper fire. Reality has bitten her. You’d think that in this age of YouTube and digital archives, she’d think twice before twisting reality. But to have the gall to turn around and say that her whole story, not just one or two words, was a case of misspeaking, is something that comes from the Republican play book. As Suzanne Smalley notes in Newsweek:

Clinton did more than misspeak; she told a richly detailed anecdote as
part of a major address on foreign policy. And it was not the first
time she has mentioned the snipers. In fact, the seeds of the Bosnian
peril myth may have been planted years ago.

I’ve never been a Hillary supporter throughout this long campaign cycle, but I had no reason to dislike her. The tactics of her campaign over the past few weeks have really caused my opinion of her to plummet. Now this seals the coffin shut. Hillary’s now as bad as any Republican when it comes to credibility. And she’s just as delusional. From the CNN article linked above:

In a radio interview that aired Tuesday, Clinton said she wasn’t worried about the incident hurting her credibility.

Yesterday I saw, on YouTube, news footage of the reception she had received upon landing in Bosnia. I was wondering why the media hadn’t picked up on it. I’m really happy they have. And it’s not just the American media reporting it:

Now maybe she will acknowledge that it’s over for her and we can get down to the business of helping Obama to beat McCain.
