A Man Who Was Superman

Yesterday morning my wife and I headed to our regular cinema to see A Man Who Was Superman. In the almost 17 years that I've lived in Korea I had never seen a Korean movie in the cinema, so I figured it was time to do so. My wife wasn't too interested in seeing it, but she tagged along anyway. It wasn't really bad, but my time would probably have been better spent on one of the other Korean movies currently playing. There were a few scenes that seemed contrived, something I really hate to see in a movie. The pace was rather quick and jittery. Still, there were a few comical and poignant moments. Hwang Jeong Min put on a good performance. And the underlying theme of the movie came across rather well. I did think the ending stretched on a bit too long, though. I plan to see more Korean movies in the cinema from now on. Not only will it help with my Korean, it will give me another set of talking points for my classes.
