Those poor Christians. It seems like everyone is attacking them. If it’s not Christmas cards handed out by Borders, it’s television commercials from Betta Electrical. You’d think they were being fed to the lions the way Christian leaders are reacting. Regarding the Borders card:
“I am quite sure that Borders intended their Christmas card as a joke. However, I personally find it an ill-judged and insensitive joke,” he said, as reported by Baptist Times. He continued, “Christians have always been used to being punch bags but I would have hoped that, in a society in which we are seeking to show respect to all people and beliefs, we might have grown out of this kind of nonsense.”
Wow, a Christian who believes our society is supposed to show respect to all people and beliefs. Ask some atheists or homosexuals how that’s working out. In response to the television ad:
Christian leaders criticised the ad, calling it a tacky and offensive exploitation of religious imagery which perverts the true meaning of Christmas. This ad comes “within the orbit of tacky Christmas things”, senior Sydney Anglican bishop Glenn Davies told The Daily Telegraph yesterday.
“The gifts that the wise men were giving were appropriate for a king, so the notion that Jesus would reject them is absurd,” Dr Davies said.
Typical hypocritical Christian behavior. It’s OK for them to verbally abuse non-Christians or those whose lifestyles they don’t agree with, call them names, wish bad things to happen to them, and so on. But as soon as someone makes one little crack about Christianity, they start screaming about how everyone picks on them and offends them all of the time. I’m sick of hearing all the whining, but I do so enjoy seeing them squirm. It’s not near what they deserve, considering all of the vitriol they dish out at other people. But it’s better than nothing.
