Impeachment in Limbo
So the impeachment of Dick Cheney is in limbo once again, as Congress displays more of their already proven ineptitude. The White House made a jab at them over the issue:
The White House, in a statement, said Democrats were shirking responsibilities on issues such as childrens’ health insurance “and yet they find time to waste an afternoon on an impeachment vote against the vice president. … This is why Americans shake their head in wonder about the priorities of this Congress.”
They’ve got it wrong, though. People are shaking their heads in wonder because the Big Dick and the Decider haven’t yet been impeached. We had high hopes back in January, but each passing week it becomes increasingly obvious that no one in this administration is ever going to be held accountable by the current Congress for what they’ve done to our country. Nor are we getting out of Iraq anytime soon. Nor can the Democrats muster enough votes to override any of the Decider’s vetoes on partisan issues. Bush is supposed to be a lame-duck president, but the reality is that we’re a lame-duck nation with a lame-duck Congress who can’t fight their way out of a paper bag.
