It seems like Pope Benedict can’t stop putting his foot in his mouth. On the positive side, I love watching him damage the credibility of his office and of the Catholic church. For an organization founded on superstition, they have way too much influence. Anything that makes them look bad is a good thing. The downside, though, is that he’s also hurting relations between different groups, nationally and ethnically, even those who don’t subscribe to his silly myths. In just one sentence, idiots like the Pope can really do a lot of damage to relationships that can take years to repair.
