Islam is Morally Corrupt in Iran
When someone accuses Muslims of practicing a violent religion, mainstream Muslims take offense. Islam is a religion of peace, they say, and the extremists who use bombs and guns to slaughter innocents are not true Muslims. Well then, someone needs to tell the Iranians.
Six members of a vigilante brigade who run around the country murdering people they deem morally corrupt had their murder convictions overturned by the Supreme Court. The case isn’t over yet, as an appeal can still be made for the full court of 50 justices to hear it. There is outrage from some of the population, which is a good sign considering that the killers’ last two victims “were a young couple engaged to be married who the killers claimed were walking together in public.” Check out what one Supreme Court Justice, who was not involved in the ruling, had to say:

Court judge, Mohammad Sadegh Al-e-Eshagh, who did not take part in this
case, sought Wednesday to discourage vigilante killings, saying those
carried out without a court order should be punished.At the
same time, he laid out examples of moral corruption that do permit
bloodshed, including armed banditry, adultery by a wife and insults to
the Prophet Muhammad.
So adultery by a wife (not by a husband) and insulting their precious prophet both justify murder. It would seem that Islam in Iran, just as the brand of Islam practiced by those bloodthirsty extremists, places very little value on human life. And that’s not morally corrupt?
Just as the complacency of moderate Christians in the United States has allowed the fundamentalist nutjobs of the Christian right to gain more prominence, so has the complacency of moderate Muslims allowed the crazies of their religion to prosper. All religion is a blight on mankind, but in the modern world more people are murdered, maimed, and oppressed by Muslims than by those of any other religion in the world. I would love to believe that Islam is a religion of peace, but I have yet to see evidence of that. When they stop killing people and treating women like dirt, then I might believe them.

This is an example of what those of us who have formally studied Islam refer to technically as a “lie”. They may claim that Islam in a general sense is not violent, but with any specific example of Muslim violence, their objections vanish.
Muslims all over the world rioted because of cartoons they didn’t like. Muslims in many cultures — even in Europe — commit “honor killings”, meaning murders of female relatives because of sexual impropriety or even the mere suspicion of it. Homosexuals in Muslim countries have been sentenced to insanely long prison terms at hard labor, or executed. Muslim students in Saudi Arabia have murdered teachers who even appeared to question the sacred texts.
Ask the same Muslims who claim Islam is not violent to condemn these specific examples of Muslim violence, and in most cases you’ll get a blizzard of sophistry, evasion, and efforts to change the subject.
