Reaping What Bush Has Sown

In a recent interview with Channel Four, Taliban military commander Mullah Dadullah made the following declaration:

“The Americans have sown a seed. They will reap the crop for quite a long time,” Dadullah said. “We will get our revenge on them, whether in Afghanistan or outside.”

What some Americans tend to forget is that, to many people outside of the country, Bush is America. The actions of the government reflect on the citizens. This is a natural tendency. We can see it at home as well, when people talk about Iran and Iraq, or other countries. The roots of terrorism against America go way back to a time before Bush, but I think it’s a safe assumption that the sowing and reaping Dadullah is on about relates directly to the Decider.

It’s hard not to wonder what would have happened if a more competent administration had been in the White House. You know, one that would have fought the War on Terror against actual terrorists, rather than stirring up more trouble where there was none. Saddam Hussein would still be in power, yes. But the Iraqis would be much better off than they are now. Osama bin Laden would most likely be either dead or captured. The Taliban would be exterminated, or at least would be made insignificant by now. The number of fervent, radical Muslims willing to blow themselves to pieces in an effort to kill more Americans would almost certainly not be as high as it is now. We would have more friends in the Muslim world and better relations with the West. The government would have been more responsive to the aftermath of Katrina. Our Constitution wouldn’t be under assault. We wouldn’t be torturing people or holding them indefinitely at Gitmo.

Instead of what could have been, we’ve got Bush, Cheney, and one hell of an international mess. These people, the Bush administration, are the face of America, the international representatives of all Americans. Are these really the people you want representing you in the global community? Haven’t they embarrassed you enough? Have they not caused enough death and destruction?

Bush, Cheney and Rice have all overstayed their welcome. For decades, Americans will be reaping what these criminals have sown. The sooner we start mending the damage, the better. Don’t wait for the term to end. Kick the Bushies out now. What are you waiting for? More death? More destruction? Another 9/11?

I agree let’s pull back into our borders, build a strong coastal and border defense, and fight them on our terms, I mean our territory. Let the streets of the US become like Beirut. I know we can give up our Democratic ideals and embrass radical Islam. Hey, maybe then Iran will like us.
The point is People constantly point out the problems with this country and it’s leadership need to be thinking about what’s the alternative to a free market, a free and open political system, let’s not forget the opportunity to change one’s own life.

Interesting point of view. You do realize that the guy sitting in the White House is already taking away your Democratic ideals, don’t you? Have his expansion of executive power and his violation of Constitutional rights flown under your radar? Further, have you not noticed that the mess in Iraq is a direct result of his misguided invasion? Have you failed to see the blunders that the administration has made, blunders which have incited more Muslims to the extremist cause?

Of course, the big question I have is, what on earth makes you think that our invasion of Iraq is protecting our country? Was it the propaganda the Decider fed you? We are caught up in the middle of a sectarian struggle between people who had nothing to do with our so-called War on Terror, inflamed by an illegal invasion and a disastrous post-invasion strategy — how is that protecting the free market and open political system? How is that keeping America safe?

We are in a morass of death and destruction that we need to get out of. Impeaching the fools who got us into that mess isn’t going to bring the war to our streets. It may very well save us from another senseless conflict with Iran. The goal is to replace incompetence with competence. Kick out the guys who are wasting American lives with their fatal mistakes and get someone into the White House who will fight the real war: keeping America secure and going after terrorists (a.k.a. Al Qaeda — you know, the people who actually attacked the World Trade Center).

I suggest you open your eyes. Parroting the Bush administration is no longer socially acceptable.

We really liked Clinton and all was well. But after Bushes regime it feels like almost every american stands behinds his president rather than his country and calls it patrionage. And it is sickening how often ppl says like the first comment. It could be worse, we have democracy we are free. Like no other country in the world are “free”. How democratic is it really when the president says something and the ppl says something else, the president wins (I belive I read that the majority of the americans didnt want to start the war). The good examples to take after are germany, iceland, finland, to name a few. I really agree with you on this one, it was a good post!
