Privacy International has released a report that ranks the “leading surveillance societies in the world.” The results aren’t really surprising, considering the direction the Bush administration has taken since 9/11. We should start calling ourselves the United States of Mao. Perhaps it paints a clearer picture of the problem so that some of the Americans that have staunchly supported Bush’s rampant destruction of our civil liberties will wake up from their Kool-Aid trip.
