Bush Wasn’t Delusional, He Was Lying
If, at any time in the past few months, you have heard the Decider parroting that the world is safer because he invaded Iraq, you can now be confident that he wasn’t being delusional — he was flat-out lying.
To summarize the linked article, all of America’s spy agencies came to a consensus in a National Intelligence Estimate released in April, signed off by John Negroponte in his role as Director of National Intelligence, detailing how the jihadist movement has grown as a result of the Iraq invasion:
The intelligence estimate, completed in April, is the first formal appraisal of global terrorism by United States intelligence agencies since the Iraq war began, and represents a consensus view of the 16 disparate spy services inside government. Titled “Trends in Global Terrorism: Implications for the United States,’’ it asserts that Islamic radicalism, rather than being in retreat, has metastasized and spread across the globe.
An opening section of the report, “Indicators of the Spread of the Global Jihadist Movement,†cites the Iraq war as a reason for the diffusion of jihad ideology.
The report “says that the Iraq war has made the overall terrorism problem worse,†said one American intelligence official.
Since April, Bush has said several times that the world is a safer place because he decided to remove Saddam Hussein from power. He said that to the world after this report crossed his desk. In fact, according to the NYTimes article above, Bush has been lying about more than how safe the world is:
For more than two years, there has been tension between the Bush administration and American spy agencies over the violence in Iraq and the prospects for a stable democracy in the country. Some intelligence officials have said that the White House has consistently presented a more optimistic picture of the situation in Iraq than justified by intelligence reports from the field.
So the next time you hear a liberal like me calling Bush a liar, traitor, and a scumbag, it’s not all hot air and partisan whining. He really is a liar, traitor and a sumbag. If he isn’t impeached, he should be taken out back and interrogated “aggressively”, according to his own standards, to find out what else he has lied about. Then we should try him without letting him see any evidence. Then we should shoot him. No, forget that. Let’s put an IED under his car so he can experience first hand what our soldiers are experiencing as a result of his lies. Or put him in a box and ship him to Fallujah so he can lose his head.
Chavez was spot on with his criticisms of Bush. Rangel and Pelosi both deserve spots on the Idiots List for defending such a disgrace to the presidency.
