Back in the Conservative Idiot Groove
After a break last week, the Top 10 Conservative Idiots List is back this week. Four of the usual suspects make appearances: Katherine Harris, Anne Coulter, Tom DeLay, and, the Idiot of Idiots, the Decider, George W. Bush. This week also see a Republican Senator Conrad Burns insulting firefighters, while supporters of Rick Santorum, using pseudonyms, pour money into the campaign of a Green Party candidate so that Santorum can have a chance to beat his Democratic opponent.
The number one entry on the list this week is Mel Gibson. I’m sure everyone has heard of the incident in Melibu by now. I have followed his career since Mad Max and Gallipoli. When I was young, I wanted to grow up to be like Mel Gibson (or Harrison Ford, depending on which day you asked me). I’m somewhat saddened to learn that my childhood idol is an anti-semitic alcoholic. We all make mistakes when we are intoxicated, but that one was a whopper.
