XoftSpySE and RegCure

Last year I purchased an antispywar proram called XoftSpy, from ParetoLogic. I had used a couple of the free alternatives, but XoftSpy was not only faster than both of the others, it caught everything they did and some things they missed. I don’t get spyware often, but when I do XoftSpy catches it.

Today I got an email from the company offering an upgrade to XoftSpySE, an improved version. It was a cheap upgrade and included a free copy of another application, RegCure. The timing was perfect. I had been thinking recently that I need to get a registry cleaning application. While the Windows registry is a useful tool for software developers, it tends to get cluttered with useless entries. Applications that are uninstalled often do not remove all of the registry entries they created. Sometimes users delete program directories without using an uninstaller, orphaning many more registry entries. In the nearly two years I’ve had this system, I’ve never cleaned the registry. I wasn’t sure what options are out there today (on Windows 98 I used to use an app called RegClean, but development on that was discontinued a while ago).

I’m very happy I upgraded. XoftSpySE is a well-built tool. It catches spyware, adware, browser hijackers and trojans. I loved the old version and I can already tell I’ll like this one better. But even more so, I’m totally into RegCure. One of the things I didn’t like about RegClean is that it didn’t catch everything. Looking at the scan screen of RegCure, there is a long list of orphaned entries it looks for. I just completed the first run and it found 1,701 problems. That’s quite a few orphaned registry entries.

If you don’t mind paying for antispyware or a registry cleaner, I can recommend both of these products. This is one of the best purchases I’ve made in a while. If you don’t know what the Windows registry is, you need RegCure at least. Cleaning it out can improve not just Windows boot time, but overall performance of the system. It’s one of those maintenance tasks that should be done regularly. The nearly two years it took me to get around to it is way too long.

    Hi,

I have just purchased XoftSpySe with Regcure and it is fantastic and has made my computer (Desktop) over five years old running like new. I also use NOD32 Anti-virus which is also fantastic. I also use Spy Sweeper and Spy Doctor.

So I have currently on my PC:

    1. Anti-Virus (NOD 32)

    3. Spyware and Malware programs (Spy Sweeper; Spyware Doctor and XoftSpySe)

    1. Registry cleaning application (Regcure)

I have paid for all of them as I too believe that you should pay for them (gee , aren’t I a good boy LOL) - but yes one should pay for these programs. Besides, you don’t get the full use of the programs if you just download the program to scan your PC and full options to clean your PC, etc. So if you want the program to do its job completely then you have to pay for them.

    Anyway
    Cheers
    Seb
